Since May of 2009 I have been asking you to generously donate your used and broken cell phones, monetary donations and calling cards at our drop sites. I am pleased to report that to date I have collected $537.00 and a total of 170 cell phones, which has bought 24,123 minutes of talk time for our soldiers.
With the holidays approaching, my thoughts are focused on the many families that are going to be missing a loved one while sitting around the dinner table at Thanksgiving or opening presents under the tree on Christmas morning.
If you have ever wondered what it means for a soldier to call home, just ask. I personally have had the opportunity to talk to a few soldiers that I have seen in the airport or just home on leave. First, I thank them for protecting us and then I ask them what they think of the Cell phones for Soldiers program, and I am pleased to say that everyone I have talked to tells me that the men and women who are serving our country are thrilled to be able to call home because of your generosity. Many of the soldiers I have spoken with were career soldiers who also served in past wars and they say that “back then they didn’t have cell phones!”
These soldiers are serving and protecting their country so that you can be safe and enjoy the pleasure of family and friends on this holiday season. Please remember our troops in your prayers and with your continued donations; without your generosity this program wouldn’t work.
If you know someone who is deployed, this program also makes it possible for you to request a calling card.

Happy Holidays and thank you for your support.
