Thank you to the woman who found my card case on Wadsworth Ave and turned it in to the Avon Police, and thanks to the officer who saw that I got it back! Kathy

Thank you Jim from All County Lawn and Garden for such thorough service. I especially am grateful for you taking the time to exlpain everything to me so I don't break my mower again! Many companies don't take that extra time with the customer.

While driving through la ocal town around lunchtime on a hot day, I noticed an older man sitting on a guardrail, head hung down, grocery bags at his feet. I turned around and offered him a ride. He was wearing oxygen, and was trying to walk from the groc. store to home (no car). He told me he had just gotten out of the hospital, and lost his wife in the last 6 months. Why was I the only one, out of hundreds of cars/people, that noticed and helped this man? I understand that we all have been hurt by others. But I beg you, please do not stop 'seeing' with your heart. If we turn a cold cheek to each other, we are creating a lonely, uncaring world for our children and grandchildren to exist in. Once a day, look around for someone in need. You will begin to see them and can start to change this world around for the better....one need...one person at a time. We each CAN make a difference. Thank you. -Two Springs

9/6/2008 Kkriwox, Thank you for sharing your experience, wisdom and concern with everyone!! There are so many people out there who don't know where to turn for help, or hesitate to, or have given up on the kindness of strangers. Because of the negative actions of SOME strangers, folks sometimes are afraid to ask for, or are afraid to give, help. What a refresher, to hear about what you did. Actions speak louder than words, especially to children. They learn kindness when they see it practiced. They learn compassion & concern for others.
Sometimes helping others might create a danger for the one who helps, or for their family, but that is in a minority...far more common are those like you met, just needing an extra ride, or kind word, or a hand up. Great advice for everyone, to keep a lookout each day & try to help at least one person. You must have a wonderful heart! Thanks, and God bless you. What a lovely "Brighter Side".

Hat Off to Leroy Country Club Restaurant Staff - This summer I held a "Surprise" Birthday Party for my husband. Being a surprise, I only had a little time to get there and decorate and being a Friday, I did not think there would be anyone using the party room. Imagine my surpirse to find it filled with over 100 golfers enjoying a meal after a tournament . The young girl manning the outside grill saw my panic and immediatley stepped in to help. Others found a place for me to work and they finished all the decorating. The party was a huge success and looked beautiful and the food was amazing. Thanks for making the night so memorable.

Thank you & KUDOS to the GVPS for allowing freedom of speech for posters in terms of differing opinions.
Violation of posting policies are taken seriously and when disturbed people attempt to agitate or incite posters ruthlessly Genesee Valley Pennysaver takes immediate action.
Thank you for your professionalism!

9/4/2008 Hi Kayroo! Glad to hear you're alright & sent Gustave packing. Hope Ike hits the pike & leaves y'all alone as well. Nice work on the Brighter Side! Maybe we'll start calling you St. Paddy II, hahaha...thanks for the kind words too--I think we all learn from each other here, that's what makes this column "tick". Good luck, stay well & safe!

9/4/2008 Many many prayers siad for those gustave did hit. We get the news channels from New Orleans and surrounding Parishes. They are without power for at least a week. Cannot flush, take showers etc. Thank Goodness they learned from Katrina and were prepared for this oone. Thank you for your words of wisdom and kind heart. I am sure our prayers are heard!!!

9/4/2008 Glad you missed the brunt of the hurricane kayroo and my thoughts & prayers go out to those who didn't. It is so easy to get caught up in a tangled web. Instinctively & naturally you go into defense mode when something like that happens. Knowledge is powerful and you're never to old to learn.

9/3/2008 New Yorker, I completely understand. You chose the right word "gibberish". I fell into the "sucked into their trap" one time too many. Learned a lot from Kris & how she handles things! She is quite special! I learned rather than being "sucked in" by their attempts to create drama ( like a fire arguments need fuel to fan & feed them) let the "rules" solve the problem. In this case "give them enough rope and they will hang themselves!
Had a brush with Gustave ; told him I did not invite him to my party & asked him to go West young man. Fortunately for Gulfport he turned just enough to the West that we did not get a direct hit! Whew.

9/3/2008 A million THANKS kayroo for letting GVPS know about one's meaningless rant! I so wanted to respond to his/her gibberish but I didn't want to feed his/her flame. It's people like him/her that make other venters/brighters not want to participate to this site. Glad you're back on and I hope things are going good for you down south. And beuke23, I couldn't have said it better myself.

Thank you for being a "respectful" poster! Feedback, suggestions, others experiences, their empathy, & even differing opinions (both positive & negative) .have helped me through life.
Recent postings on I gotta vent were a tad bit on the ridiculously, taunting side but a quick email to GVPS remedied the situation.
It's a shame some posters delight in being ugly & go above & beyond to instigate, seemingly for their own cheap entertainment!
As per GVPS rules behavior such as theirs can actually prohibit them from using this site.

kayroo
9/3/2008 I agree Kayroo. I would like to say Thank You as well to the GVPS for stepping in and enforcing the rules.

Although I do not post much in Brighter Side/Gotta Vent sections, I do enjoy reading about what others have to say. And once in a while, I do actually learn something new, about laws or codes that I didn't know before. (Thank you to all that contribute as well)

I just want to thank the man on Federal Rd (you know who you are) who sold me a mattress and boxspring at a affordable price.Being a single mom, limited income and our history of feuding neighbors , I was pleasantly surprised at how the sale went when it could have turned ugly.Thank you again and maybe I'll see you around.

I want to publically thank all these wonderful people for trying to take care of the cat population humanely. Vonuteers for Animals (Wendy, Kathy, Sylvia etc...), Wyoming County SPCA (Candee, Sue etc...) and all those others who take care of the throw away cats that irresponsible people neglect. You effortlessly provide food and shelter. But they need more and I hope someday we who have a common goal can work together.

I would like to say THANK YOU to Brian Matuszak from Walmart Optical, who referred me to Dr. Croft of Batavia, and Dr. Croft for making and emergency appointment with Dr. Chung of Strong Memorial Hospital, and Dr. Chung for performing the emergency surgery I needed to repair my Detached Retina. Because of the care and professionalism of these three my sight will be saved. THANK YOU!!!
