Locals Compete in National Championships

Recently, seven athletes from USA Masters Academy in Canandaigua competed in the USA Taekwondo National Championships. This year’s championship was held in San Jose, CA over the July 4th weekend.

They are: Jonathan Price, Carly Moses, Asad Ruffin, Gyasi Ruffin, Jasmyn Pitt, Kathryn Cywinski and Dustin Coha. This competition represents the highest level of Taekwondo competition in the nation and plays a major part in deciding which athletes will go on to represent the United States in international competition and even the Olympics.

Our local athletes competed very well and two of them even won medals in sparring.  Jonathan Price won a bronze and Carly Moses won a silver.

USA Masters Academy has been sending athletes to the past nine National Championships and has had many athletes represent the United States in international competition.
