The theme for the Perinton Historical Society’s 43rd annual House Tour is “American Craftsman Bungalows,” and homes built between 1905 and 1930’s will be featured. As an introduction to the Tour, a lecture and pictorial slideshow of bungalow homes located in Perinton and neighboring communities will be presented on September 17 at 7:30 PM at the Fairport Historical Museum, 18 Perrin St. This program is open to all in the community at no charge.
On October 6 the House Tour will begin at 1:00 PM with a lecture at the Perinton Community Center, 1350 Turk Hill Road. Special guest speaker Alan Nowicki, the Program Director of the Roycroft Campus in East Aurora, New York, will talk about this National Historic Landmark, its architecturally rich Arts and Crafts buildings, the philosophy of Elbert Hubbard and the Roycroft, and the Arts and Crafts Movement. From 2:30 – 5:00 PM, attendees will then go on to tour three bungalow homes in Perinton.
Activities on October 6 are limited to PHS members only, but memberships can be secured after September 16 at the Town and Village Halls, the Fairport Library, or by calling 223-3989 and leaving a message. Memberships will also be available at the Perinton Community Center just before the 1:00 lecture. For more information visit www.PerintonHistoricalSociety.org.
