I loved the Hometown story this week..Shanty Town Raises Money for Habitat for Humanity. It was great to read about kids caring like that! I am sure it was a great learning experience too for them. Thanks always for a great newspaper! Maggie Brewer
Just a quick note to thank you so much for including the "article" and picture of the SUNY Brockport students volunteering at the Fairport Historical Museum in this week's issue of the PennySaver! It's great community kudos for the kids and wonderful publicity for our Museum!! Best, Pat May, Director of Communications, Perinton Historical Society's Board of Trustees
Many thanks to everyone at GVP! We all greatly appreciate the recognition and are wowed to know 150,000 readers saw the [McPherson Orchards] ad. We've heard lots of comments already from those that have seen it. The laminated ad will sit there for quite some time! Thanks again.
I saw the [Stop the Trafficking 5k Hometown Story] in our Penny Saver. I have forwarded the PDF onto the folks at Angels of Mercy and they are ecstatic with the publicity. Thanks to you and the folks that helped along the way to spread the awareness! Thanks so very much for the hard work that is placed into making the Penny Saver a success. YOU are making a difference in many lives, too.
I am an Office Manager in Pittsford and I am always reading [the Penny Saver] when it comes each week! I am always going to the meat market in E. Rochester for the amazing deals! J If it wasn’t for the recent [edition], I wouldn’t have known about the Greek Fest coming this weekend J
Thank you so much for the extra info you put together and published in the GVA Pennysaver regarding Spencerport Canal Days. I can't begin to tell you how much that meant to our committee and myself. We did not expect all the details you included. We know the increase in attendance this year was due in part to your coverage for us.
Submitting events is quick and easy thanks to directions from Scott. As with all non-profits budget is a huge issue. I appreciate being able to advertise upcoming events in this respected, well read publication free of charge for our nonprofit organization. Sherry Verstraete, Director
Thank you so much for publishing my articles all year I really truly appreciate it.
Pretty well read….locally, and around the globe! Roger Tones is a flying instructor with Learn 2 Fly. He’s been advertising with the Genesee Valley Penny Saver since 2009 when he was building his business. Roger knows the Penny Saver works, but he was surprised to learn just how far it can reach. Last year, a family member of a soldier serving overseas used the Penny Saver as “packaging” when sending a package to him in Kuwait. The soldier opened up the “packaging” pages from the Penny Saver and read them. When he arrived home from his 6 month deployment, he called Roger and is now a flying student of his!
We have lived in Churchville for over 50 years and have been receiving the Penny Saver for a lot of them. For years, I barely opened it up unless I was looking for a garage sale or something to buy. As of late the Penny Saver has evolved into a wonderful, newsy and handy paper. I love the coupon section, "the Vent" section and all the little positive thoughts spread throughout the paper. The Dr. section is also a great addition. My husband loves the Sudoku. Just wanted to tell you you have turned your paper into something we grab and read each week now. Thanks.
Oh my goodness... The patrons of the PennySaver are GENEROUS!! I had to call [someone] to come help as there was so much stuff [donations for NYC families affected by Superstorm Sandy] I couldn't fit it all in my car! Wow! We are so blessed by you all. I cannot say thank you enough.
Thank you very much for all your help in publishing the Settlers Club article and pictures in the Penny Saver on October 3rd. The club members were very pleased with the results.
I appreciate everything the GVP does! It is a great community publication and your website is very user friendly and easy to navigate.
I just want you to know, I've had multiple responses to the ad I ran on my darkroom equipment and I managed to sell it to the first person that called. He was over here, looked at it, and within a short while he's going to have it all out of here. So hey, the Penny Saver works! Thank you! Go Bills!
Thanks again for your GREAT weekly publication, I literally read it cover to cover.
The Penny Saver rocks!!!
I read the Penny Saver from cover to cover each week and do a lot of business out of it.
Happy Easter to the Pennysaver crew!! We enjoy reading the Pennysaver & all its fun puzzle, word games & the nice quotes!! Also the colored items!
I really appreciate your paper running our volunteer ad for retired teachers to tutor children with chronic diseases. I know you run it about every 3 weeks and most of the time I don't even have to know it is the week you are running because someone new calls to volunteer. We are now over 100 strong, but still need volunteers as we never know in what area around as well as in Rochester these children might live. Since you have been running the ad we have increased the areas we now can serve.
Again, thank you Janet for publishing our beloved kitty "Peanuts", great job, we are very pleased.
Brittany, I just received your email for proofing I feel the need to tell you WOW! Please tell all or whomever put the add together how impressed and happy I am. It is sharp! clean! informative! and very professional looking! This is why GVPS is my first choice for my advertising needs! It has my stamp of approval! once again, thank you!!!!!! :)
The GVPS ad generated legitimate, worthy applicants and most resumes were on my desk Monday morning for review. It is great to know that I can count on GVPS to help me so quickly. Thank you!
My experience working with Janet has been truly exceptional. We appreciate all the exposure our kids receive from being featured in the Penny Saver. We receive phone calls from prospective parents all of the time about kids they saw in the Penny Saver. Thank you for being such a pleasure to work with!
Dear Cindy Sattora; Ad for Hochul Brunch looks GREAT!! Thanks for all your hard work! Best, Connie English
3 weeks ago I lost a hubcap a valuable 1959 one, and I put an ad in your tri-county. I am happy to say someone found it and we got it back last nite. Thank you very much for printing the ad, it bought results.
I would like to just send you a big "Thank You" for supporting the Brockport Volunteer Fire Department's Memorial event scheduled for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. While no longer a member of the department (I currently live in Chicago) I take great pride in having been a member when the memorial was dedicated. The BVFD was among the first departments to erect a permanent memorial to the 343 FDNY members who lost their lives saving others. I make it a point to visit the memorial whenever I return to Brockport and it still makes one pause and give thanks.......to those who have gone before us....and for protecting me over 32 years of being a firefighter. Your support means a lot to all of the members, both current and past, and shows that you also care about those you lost their lives on that fateful day ten years ago. Thank you again for your support.
A friend of mine from Bristol told me about the volunteer page of the GVPS. I have formed a group of volunteer retired teachers(and others) to tutor children with cancer and other chronic diseases in the Rochester area. The area we service reaches as far west as Buffalo, east to Syracuse, and south to the Pennsylvania border. It was very difficult reaching teachers until I put a volunteer ad in the GVPS. It has been wonderful and very uplifting with all the responses. Hopefully, we will continue to grow as more and more teachers in those areas see the ad, making us able to service more and more children with chronic diseases.
We received a super response to our front page advertisement, in the Genesee Valley Penny Saver, Livingston edition for “The Big Game” February 6, 2011 published the week of 1/30/11. Not only did it bring in new customers we also had a tremendous coupon response with at least 35 early on and are receiving more coupons each day as they are good through the entire month of February. We will continue to advertise with the Genesee Valley Penny Saver. We are looking forward to our next promotion for March Madness.
Hi Cindy!!! I knew I had made the right decision to come back and advertise in The Genesee Valley Pennysaver..I totally appreciate your suggestions as to where and how I should spend my precious dollars..In just 2 days, I have already received calls from former customers as well as new….Thanks for your help and I look forward to doing business with your firm…
Dear Friends: Your In-Kind Donation of advertising our Wish List for Christmas is received with gratitude. Gifts take on special meaning for those who give as well as those who receive. Because of your generous donation to Crossroads House you are making it possible for us to continue our ministry to our terminally il residents and their families. Thank you for your support and dedication to our unique mission.
Dear Angie, I started using the penny saver in the Fall of 2009. From the start the Penny Saver has made advertising specific locations an amazing experience! Every new customer I get from the Penny Saver is very impressed with the professionalism that the design of the advertisement provides. I owe it all to The Penny Saver. The advice and the “marketing smarts” you have personally shared with me has made a world of change for my business, and it’s a 150% positive change! Thank You Soooo Much.
On January 14 of this year I placed an ad on Car Soup on the Internet to sell my 1986 Pontiac Firebird. The ad included a picture. I had a couple of calls but no live ones. Then I placed a classified ad in several editions of the Genesee Valley Penny Saver the week of January 31st. I received several calls and sold it to a gentleman from Springwater before the middle of the following week.
Dearest Janet and Genesee Valley Penny Saver, We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the awesome Doug Miller School of Excellence scholarship. Kylar is so excited!! In fact, the day that we found out, that night he literally did not sleep a wink! This is such an exciting opportunity for him and we are grateful for your generous donation. We have spoken directly with Doug Miller and are looking forward to staring practices on September 15th. Thank you all so much again.
[GVPS is] the only print advertising that worked. I cancelled radio because of no response. The Penny Saver has generated the most leads and business, including one of my biggest customers, who owns a business and a large home. Don’t waste your marketing money elsewhere. Put it where it works—the Penny Saver.
Bill's a great rep and Angie is a great rep. We've been using you guys for years.
I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate all you did to put together the wonderful Spencerport section in the Advertiser. The headers across the top really give a great deal of info regarding our Canal Days event. Please tell everyone who helped put this together for you, how much their efforts mean to our Canal Days Committee.
I wanted to thank the Genesee Valley Pennysaver for their ease of placing an ad via your on-line web tool. It took me mere minutes and I had the ad placed by the next issue. I easily added a picture as well. It also allowed me to choose the Editions that I wanted my ad placed in. Having that was beneficial to me since I didn’t know about all the Penny Saver Editions that are out there!
We sold our house “by owner” using the PennySaver. The PennySaver was the only place we advertised and provided great response. The ads looked great and helped us sell our house within 3 months.
Keep up the great work . . . I always enjoy seeing what is going on in and around my neighborhood, and I always look to the Pennysaver to find out!
Janet and Cindy, Thank you for the laminated copies of your "Business of the Week" featuring Salon Secrets. The picture came out great and my staff was very excited. We appreciated the opportunity to present our business to a greater audience through the Genesee Valley Pennysaver. Sincerely, Nancy Cleveland.
I want to applaud Janet Olexy for her help and courteous manor in helping me understand how the Penny Saver “Worship Services” guide works. When I called to ask why my place of worship was not listed, she took the time to explain and offered to call them to see if they are interested in placing a low-cost ad. Thanks Janet!
A great big thanks to you and your management team for your community spotlight ad in the Fairport-Perinton edition of the Penny Saver on Sunday May 11th. To help save the Fairport First Baptist Church in our restoration fund drive. We had over 80 people attend the video presentation and made $530.00 dollars. Thanks in large support to you. Again you have our most heart-felt THANKS.
I placed a "Free kittens" ad in the Penny Saver, and the whole litter went in one weekend!
Thank you so much for running my grandson's picture & CF article under the Community Spotlight in the GVPS. I already have a few donations that resulted from it - even from someone I don't know!! We appreciate all your help & concern.
I was reading your paper this fine Saturday morning (my favorite thing to do on a Saturday morning) and saw your CVC GOLD STANDARD AWARD. It is highly deserved. I don't always get my paper with Friday's mail for my Saturday morning read, but I most definitely look for it each week with anticipation. Your articles are great: inspiring and amusing. The brighter/vent page is very interesting. I love the crosswords done with children in mind. . . . Mostly, I am writing this because I am one of those people who enjoy giving accolades to those that work hard and end up producing something that shows they have sincerely put in a great deal of effort and organization. Thank you for jobs well done all through this process. Everyone in your organization is obviously worth their salt.
Thanks, Janet. Real nice job; let Tonja know I thank her too. A lot of people commented on the ad (Hometown Spotlight for CURE Poker Run).
I just wanted to say thank you for setting up my ad so quickly. I already received my first call on Monday!
I love the Penny Saver! I look there when I need driveway sealing or gutter cleaning, tree work, a handy man, or anything--it's easy and I know they'll be local.
Once again you and your Genesee Valley Penny Saver have helped us find wonderful interviewees for work here at Rochester Handyman Matters. We are pleased once again to receive and interview people who read the Genesee Valley Penny Saver from your wide distribution area. They have all been a joy to interview and consider for work here wtih us. Your track record in having our phone ring with qualified and talented workers to hire has been really wonderful and makes our life just that much easier to keep a great selection of Craftspeople to assist the area homeowners to be able to get the right person to do those "Handyman" tasks needing attention in their homes. So once again a huge "Thank-you" to you and your staff in getting our hiring needs met for the second time in a timely fashion and at a great price. Keep up the great work.
Thanks to your ads our booksale has us swamped on the first day! Yeah!
I get to take the copy [of the Penny Saver] from work after everyone is done reading it, it is my favorite thing to read on my day off with my coffee, and I love the polls and contests you do, and I wish there was an edition our our way (I got hooked on it when I lived in Canandaigua a few years ago) !!! Thank you thank you thank you.
I just love this new Pennysaver.
I've been meaning to tell you how much I enjoy reading the Penny Saver. I was able to get rid of an old computer earlier in the spring by reading of a drop off spot on Lexington Avenue-- read it in your paper. I also do the Sudoku and love reading the "thumbs up and down" although I know it's not called that. I like that they even out and that there aren't more of one than the other. It's a very eye-appealing paper. I was home for lunch and was glad to see the G-V Penneysaver came in the mail. I don’t know why I’m so attached to it- I do love the layout, the couple of informative articles, the Sudoku, and the equal coverage of the “thumbs up/thumbs down”- plus, it comes on Friday and is easy reading after a long week.
The Penny Saver employment ads are a very cost-effective way to find quality employees. The response is limited to qualified candidates who are willing to work! They have been a great help to us.
The Penny Saver's customer service has been excellent. They do a great job with the layout of our ads, so we get the best presentation possible. I like being able to choose which markets to target for our different locations, and we always get a good response whenever we run ads with them--and the price is right.
I just wanted to thank you for doing these ads for us, and to tell you that last week's ad was absolutely fabulous! You always do a wonderful job with the information we send to you each week, but I know this one was a little more complicated because of the Teen Book Festival logo. It turned out beautifully!
Just wanted to express my gratification for the success of our help wanted ad in the Genesee Valley Penny Saver. We received over 75 applicants from the two weeks the ad ran, with the large majority coming from our Penny Saver advertising. We researched several resources in our search for a new Office Manager, and started with the Penny Saver due to its reasonable cost. We did not need to do any additional advertising, and actually could have sufficed with a single week! We have filled the position with an applicant with excellent qualifications and also had several more qualified individuals who were more than capable of fulfilling the position. Thanks again.
