Stageworks is an organization 100% dedicated to Rochester youth helping youth. Our mission is to provide exciting performance opportunities for local artists and to present first-rate theatrical productions that benefit Rochester-based charitable organizations. We also feel strongly that the arts promote Rochester businesses and restaurants by bringing people downtown from the suburbs, as well as allowing people who live in the city to walk to events. We keep our ticket prices as low as possible, so as not to exclude anyone who might have a financial barrier.
All proceeds from Stageworks’ Summer 2013 program go directly to Joining Hearts and Hands, a wonderful Rochester-based charity, founded by Rochester’s Joanne and Bill Cala (former Superintendent of the Rochester City Schools). The organization is dedicated to providing health, education, and economic stability for children in Africa.
Stageworks’ groundbreaking adaptation of ‘Pippin’ is quickly approaching. The current Broadway production won several 2013 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical. Stageworks’ adaptation presents a bold new twist to this story of the timeless and universal quest for personal fulfillment. Between the avant-garde costuming and unconventional staging, this is a can’t-miss production.
Stageworks’ production will take place July 12 (7:30pm) & 13 (2:00pm and 7:30pm) at 111 N. Chestnut St Rochester, NY.
