Honeoye Falls, N.Y., September 10, 2018—
Lots of reading, dancing, and creating happened at the Mendon Public Library this summer as part of the Summer Reading Program. “Libraries Rock!” was the theme of this summer’s program. More than 1,500 patrons took part in the specially planned programs, with more than 600 patrons reading almost 2000 books. The youngest readers, measuring minutes read, logged over 26,000 minutes of reading! Rock Painting and LEGO-Themed Story Time/ STEAM Time proved to be our most well-attended events. However, patrons seemed very happy with all our offerings which ranged from art, music, dance, safety, education, and culture.
All children under 11-years-old that completed their summer reading logs received a “Libraries Rock” Book Bag with an assortment of coupons and gift cards from local businesses. Teen prize winners, Ben Gray, Ruby Harrison, Cayla Lawrence, and Eden Powell each took home a $25 Amazon Gift Card. Adult prize winners included, Stephanie Slisher ($50 gift card to HFMP/MMM) and Suzie Wells (Two tickets to GEVA).
The Red Wings Ticket Winner for the Mendon Public Library’s winner was Megan Merrill from Rush. Thanks to the generosity of a local patron, we were able to offer fantastic LEGO prizes to all our LEGO-Themed Story Times. Finally, our Shredded Book Contest Winners, included: Genesee Country Village & Museum pass—Michael Sanza, Age 14; The Strong Tickets – Lyla, Age 6; Seneca Park Family Pack – Ammora Courtney, Age 5; RMSC Family Pack – Ben Gray, Age 13; with additional prize winners Katie Montemarano, Age 9; Diane Namm, Age 11; Emily Ford, Age 11; and Rachael Garvey, Age 11.
