I totally agree with a previous writer when the individual expresses frustration at bicyclists who break the law by running red lights and riding against traffic. This is annoying and dangerous. I wonder, however, if the writer experiences the same frustration when he sees a car speeding or parking in a “no parking” zone. I’ve witnessed numerous drivers rolling through intersections without coming to a complete stop. I’ve seen drivers opening car doors without looking, causing law-abiding cyclists to crash into their open doors. Is the previous writer equally disturbed by these things? It seems to me that many motorists are annoyed at lawbreaking only when it involves cyclists. My point is that traffic participants, regardless of which mode of transportation is being used, should be following the law and be observant of others. Being careful and respecting everyone’s rights on the road prevents crashes and saves lives.
